The Silence Before the Strike

14 февраля 2026, 16:19

The desert was too quiet.
Richard Kinston didn’t like quiet. Quiet meant anticipation. Quiet meant someone was waiting.
He adjusted his night-vision visor and scanned the compound below. The terrorist camp was carved into the rocky valley like a wound that refused to heal. Floodlights cut through the darkness. Armed guards patrolled in lazy circles, unaware that death was already watching them.
Behind him, the Cobra Unit waited.
Amélie checked the detonator strapped to her wrist. The faint green light reflected in her cold blue eyes. She didn’t speak. She never did before an operation.
Viktor lay prone beside a shattered boulder, sniper rifle steady, breathing slow and mechanical. One blink. One trigger pull. One less problem.
Marcus, the hacker, whispered through comms.
“Security loop is live. Cameras are blind for exactly six minutes. After that… you’re on borrowed time.”
Richard smiled faintly.
“Six minutes is enough.”
He raised two fingers.
Move.
The team descended like shadows slipping down a wall. No wasted motion. No hesitation. Cobra didn’t rush. Cobra hunted.
The first guard never saw it coming. Richard’s hand covered the man’s mouth while the other struck with brutal precision. A silent drop. No scream. No mercy.
Amélie planted micro-charges along the fuel storage tanks, moving like a ghost between steel containers. She paused only once—when a guard stepped too close. A knife flashed. The body fell without a sound.
Inside the compound, Marcus’s voice returned.
“Thirty seconds until system reboot.”
Viktor fired.
One shot.
A lookout tower guard collapsed before he even realized he’d been targeted.
Sirens suddenly erupted.
“Time’s up,” Marcus muttered.
The floodlights flared back to life.
Gunfire exploded across the courtyard.
Richard didn’t retreat.
He advanced.
Bullets tore through the air. Concrete shattered. Men shouted in panic. Cobra moved through chaos like it was choreography.
Richard broke through the main hall doors with a shoulder strike. Inside waited the man they came for—the cell commander, armed and furious.
“You!” the terrorist shouted in Arabic, raising his rifle.
Too slow.
Richard crossed the distance in three strides. A brutal elbow. A disarm. A crushing strike to the throat. The commander collapsed, choking on his own fear.
Richard leaned down.
“This ends tonight.”
Outside, Amélie triggered the charges.
The valley shook.
Fuel tanks erupted into fireballs that painted the sky orange. Shockwaves rolled across the compound as Cobra Unit extracted through the eastern ridge.
Helicopter blades thundered above.
Mission complete.
As they lifted into the night, Richard stared down at the burning camp.
Another cell erased.
Another message sent.
Cobra didn’t negotiate.
Cobra eliminated.
He leaned back in the seat, eyes calm but unreadable.
“This was only the beginning.”
