Winning
I take one last look at my empty room and shut the door. I run downstairs and out the door to find my mom and dad already in our new Mercedes Benz waiting for me.
I jump in the back and say "Alright I didn't forget anything let's go". My dad says "Ok, to our new life we go". My dad turns on the radio to his favorite station and starts singing which he doesn't do unless he's happy.
My mom is typing away at her her new iPhone 6s probably texting her friends or just updating on Facebook.
I turn back to see the small apartment building where we used to live and where we spent 3 years. My dad is not young anymore he's old wether he likes it or not. He's worked hard labor his whole life and I'm so happy that now he doesn't have to work 80 hours a week.
My mom is also not very young, my dad never let her work because back then her job was to take care of my brothers. But when we moved to San Diego she decided she was going to work at least a little to help my dad with all the bills. She did a less laborious job but it still took a toll on her. She won't have to work anymore.
Me, I worked at a coffee shop for 3 years too but I never did any hard labor which I thank my parents for. I'm a senior now and we are moving to the worlds most famous hills. Beverly Hills.
Not going to lie I'm going to miss everyone I hung out with down here but I'm also super excited to live in LA. I've always had an unhealthy obsession with famous actors singers & in between.
How did we go from apartment to Beverly Hills well here's the story about that. One day after work my dad stopped to get gas and he bought a ticket for the lottery. I had chosen the numbers for the lottery ticket and two days later they announced that the tickets had been sold in California so my dad went to check his ticket. The liquor store clerk checked for him and he said "Congratulations! You now own 500 million dollars!!"
My dad thought he was joking but then other people in the 7-11 started showing him pictures of the winning numbers and recording his reaction. He started jumping and cheering of joy and when I got home from school all the neighbors were packed into our apartment and they were all drinking.
"What happened?!" I said when I walked in "Your dad won the lottery!" Juan the neighbor told me. I finally reached my dad and he hugged and kissed me and even lifted me in the air. "We won Elena we won!!" I was shocked I didn't say anything but I just started to cry and I hugged my mom and dad.
The next day the people from the lottery contacted us and told us to meet them tomorrow in downtown to get our check. I knew there was going to be press so I wanted to dress up wear a dress or something but my dad said "No let's show them how much the money will help us let's wear work clothes" I understood what they meant.
So the next day we all got ready I wore normal clothes that I wore to school. black ripped jeans and a crop top. When we got there of course the press was going at it with pictures. My mom and dad walked in first and we all stood on a stage looking thing where the lottery man handed my dad the check.
They asked my dad what was the first thing he was going to do with the money and he said "Help my family, I'm going to buy a car and then a really nice house that my wife and daughter like wherever they want to live and we will move there"
They asked my mom what she wanted to buy and she said "A new bed" all the press laughed. Then they finally asked me and I said "A new laptop, I've always wanted a nice working laptop, and then probably a car for school".
After sharing champagne with the lottery people and thanking them we drove home in my dads truck full of tools and with 500 million dollars in his bank account.
So now on this two hour drive to LA I'm helping my parents choose a place to go on vacation to. I asked them what kind of place they wanted they said beach, island and pretty views. I suggested Santorini, Greece and they both said "If you think it's a good place sure"
When we get to LA were stopping at the Apple Store so I can buy my laptop. Im so excited for everything. I'm so so so excited because now I don't have to stress over my parents stress. Thank you God for this amazing gift. Thank you.
